Tony Tony Chopper, the beloved character from “ONE PIECE” (created by Eiichiro Oda, published by Shueisha), has been named an official supporter of Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF), to help raise awareness of MSF’s humanitarian medical activities worldwide.
Chopper‘s dream is “to become a doctor who can cure everyone around the world.” As the ship’s doctor for the Straw Hats, Chopper‘s unwavering commitment to helping anyone suffering from injury or illness during their adventure has touched the hearts of readers and viewers worldwide. This belief resonates deeply with the principles of MSF. MSF is an international, independent medical humanitarian organisation that provides emergency medical care to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters, and exclusion from healthcare. Operating in more than 70 countries, MSF delivers lifesaving assistance to people in crisis regardless of ethnicity, religion, nationality, or political affiliation. MSF’s actions are guided by medical ethics and the principles of independence, neutrality, and impartiality. Chopper seems to embody the principles and values of MSF. This shared stance and philosophy led to this collaboration. This initiative aims to broaden understanding and interest in MSF's humanitarian medical activities.
Chopper runs wearing Logo T-shirt, a stethoscope around his neck, and an MSF flag raised high. His bulging emergency medical backpack is modeled after one actually used by MSF. Chopper's running form evokes a sense of kinship with the "Running Person" logo, which embodies the spirit of MSF.
A booklet that allows readers to learn about MSF’s activities together with Chopper is currently in production. It is scheduled to be published on the special collaboration website.
In "CHOPPER's," which depicts Chopper living in the modern world we inhabit today, we introduce the work of MSF as a "journey of discovery." Explore the work of MSF together with Chopper as he visits across the world.
The contents can be viewed on the official CHOPPER's website, Instagram, X account, or the collaboration special website.
Production of original goods to support MSF’s humanitarian activities is also planned. Details will be announced later on the special collaboration website and on CHOPPER’s social media channels.

Dear Chopper, thank you for joining Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) to save lives around the world! The belief in helping those in need of medical care, regardless of ethnicity or nationality, is something Chopper and MSF share. Please visit our projects and share what you see with many people. MSF needs many supporters. We hope that through Chopper, the number of people joining and supporting MSF will grow around the world.
Dr Javid Abdelmoneim, International President of Médecins Sans Frontières
I am truly delighted that Chopper, the doctor of the Straw Hats, has been given the opportunity to play an active role on the global stage.
He is originally a reindeer who became a "Human-Reindeer" after eating the "Human-Human Fruit". Yet he dedicates himself to treating anyone who is injured or ill—whether human or animal, friend or foe.
Because of this compassion and determination, I believe he is a perfect fit to serve as a supporter of Médecins Sans Frontières, an organization that provides medical care on the front lines around the world, transcending borders, race, and religion. We hope you will support his activities.
Hiroyuki Nakano, ONE PIECE Media Editor-in-Chief
