Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop strategies and compose annual plans and targets for all sub-pillars under Major Gift segment, in shorter term, medium term and beyond.
- Confer regularly with Director of Fundraising to review achievements and discuss required changes in tactics and/or activities in order to deliver the stated goals and objectives.
- Establishes and manages policies, systems and procedures for managing workflow, record keeping on MSF-HK Major Donor database.
- Expand networks of targeted audience with strategized communications, appeals, meetings and proposals.
- Enhance the solicitation of committed donors/sponsors/foundations in support of MSF-HK events and the management of the relationship with high quality stewardship. Fulfil requirements from donors’ requirement while abiding to MSF’s policies for donation settlement.
- Develop network and close contact with Operation Desks / Institutional Fundraiser platform of relevant OCs, to research content and develop positioning for major donor proposals, correspondence and reports that serve to raise funds while educating donors about the field and advocacy work of MSF.
- Lead acquisition campaigns for major gifts, includes digital campaigns to generate leads for sponsorship and legacy donation pledgers.
- Develop major donor stewardship practice that effectively engage and nurture major donors to enhance and increase their donation value and loyalty towards MSF.
- Support Director of Fundraising for all financial processes.
- Within the MSF movement, interacts with all levels of staff and field volunteers to strategize approach, plan, and coordinate, as well as to stay abreast of MSF issues and to research topics.
- To participate and contribute in the Major Donor Working Group of the platform as well as joining Work Group of local projects.
- Ensures that materials aimed at a wide audience are approved according to the approval procedures of MSF-HK.
- Human resources management of Major Donor Team, responsibilities include coaching and training of new staff, raising standards of existing staff, alongside performance evaluation and setting of job plans for team members and recruitment of new staff members.
The Ideal Candidate
- Min. 5 yrs major donor fundraising experience including significant experience with personal solicitation
- Strong manager; facilitator; integrator, with min. 3 years staff management experience
- Strong interpersonal, public speaking and presentation skills
- Excellent level in written and spoken English. Written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is a definite strong asset
- Ability to analyze and synthesize complex and sensitive material and use it to develop funding proposal, strategic plans
- Ability to write a range of correspondence from formal business letters to thank you notes
- Strong computer literacy, including ability to use word-processing, spreadsheet and database software, and to search the internet for research purposes
- Experience with donor databases and contacts management
- Knowledge of international humanitarian affairs
- Commitment to the aims, values and principles of Médecins Sans Frontières; ability to engage and understand MSF’s social mission and carries a strong believe in how the function of fundraising is adding value to it
- Dynamic and creative; excellent judgment and diplomacy
- Excellent time management and organizational skills; ability to handle a large volume of work under pressure and with deadlines
- Keen attention to detail with ability to track multiple projects at one time
- Proactive and can work independently with a minimum of supervision
- Flexible travel schedule; must be able to travel as required for standard domestic and international business travel, as well as to MSF field projects
- Moral commitment of a minimum of 3 years
