Oncologists support the development of oncology services by strengthening the capacity of medical and nursing teams to deliver comprehensive cancer care. Through training, mentoring, and technical support, they help improve the quality of care provided to patients throughout their cancer journey.
Role of the Oncologist
- Train, mentor, and provide technical support to Oncology Ward Medical Doctors and nurses.
- Support cancer diagnosis, staging, treatment, and follow-up care.
- Strengthen pain management, symptom control, palliative care, and end-of-life support.
- Enhance clinical decision-making, communication, and counselling skills within the healthcare team.
- Promote quality care through effective documentation and coordination of care.
Requirements
- Medical degree with specialist training in Medical Oncology (Internal Medicine followed by specialist training in Oncology).
- Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience, including teaching and mentoring.
- Advanced training or experience in Palliative Care is an advantage.
- Knowledge of oncology and palliative medicine, including cancer diagnosis, staging, treatment, and symptom management.
- Strong communication, counselling, and clinical teaching skills.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
- A minimum availability of 6 months is required.
