Job Purpose​

The Senior Communications Officer (Editor) is responsible for ensuring that external communications materials produced by MSF Hong Kong are of the highest quality: clear, compelling, accurate and on-brand. The role requires a thoughtful and precise editor who understands the value of authentic.

Main Duties and Responsibilities​

  • Develop persuasive news stories, conduct interviews with field workers, and consolidate field testimonials, striving for timely reportage that engages key audiences.
  • Adapt and translate content from the field, ensuring that text is authentic, effective, informative and appealing, while paying close attention to narrative flow, messaging, accuracy, tone and style.
  • Collaborate with Digital colleagues to package multimedia content effectively and compellingly.
  • Create and review messages and content for our flagship campaigns.
  • Review and edit fundraising and donor communications materials and coordinating with Fundraising Department on content creation.
  • Edit MSF HK Annual Activity Report, Newsletters, Financial Business Review, and other external reports.
  • Develop and manage the style guide for the office in Hong Kong 
  • Maintain an eye on details, fact-checking, identifying sensitivities, and reputational issues.

 

 

The Ideal Candidate ​

  • University graduate in communications, translations, languages, journalism or a related field 
  • At least 5 years of writing, editing or relevant experience 
  • Outstanding written skills in Traditional Chinese and English 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders 
  • Attention to detail, sensitivity to good content potentials, strong organisational and time management skills  
  • Experience in editing website content via a Content Management System
  • Commitment to and respect for the mission and values of Médecins Sans Frontières.
  • Experience in producing publications and developing social media content is preferred
