Regional Association Director

Job Purpose
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the development, execution, and regular review of the MSF-HK Association strategy in alignment with the organisational mission and long-term vision.
- Define multi-year associative strategic plans and priorities, in consultation with the Board, Executive, and Association members.
- Promote a shared understanding of associative objectives across the organisation and ensure institutional alignment.
- Serve as strategic advisor to the MSF-HK Board, supporting governance development, succession planning, and Board performance.
- Ensure the implementation and evolution of MSF-HK’s Articles of Association and internal regulations in coordination with MSF HK board support and legal advisors.
- Support Board and General Assembly preparation with a strategic lens, ensuring alignment with MSF global governance best practices.
3. Executive Integration and Institutional Collaboration
- Work closely with the Executive Director and Management Team to embed associative perspectives into organisational decision-making.
- Act as the primary associative liaison to all departments, ensuring the integration of associative programmes with institutional processes.
- Facilitate a culture of shared governance by promoting meaningful collaboration between the Executive and the Association.
- Represent MSF-HK in international associative engagement and to build strong links with other association focal points and MSF movement-wide networks to foster shared learning and coordinated action.
- Lead MSF-HK’s engagement on global associative platform and ensure the region’s voice is heard at international level.
- To follow regional and global dossier, support the development and analysis of MSF HK position in coordination with relevant board members.
- Provide strategic oversight and direction to associative engagement initiatives, ensuring their relevance, quality, and impact.
- Guide the development of platforms for meaningful debate, peer learning, and member participation.
- Ensure effective planning and delivery of key events, including the Annual General Assembly and thematic debates.
- Oversee the development and implementation of membership strategy, including criteria, processes, and inclusive outreach.
- Ensure robust systems are in place for membership engagement, retention, and communication.
- Promote diversity, inclusiveness, and regional representation within the membership.
- Lead and support the Association team, including the MSF-HK regional association coordinator, regional focal points, and other staff.
- Oversee budget planning and financial management of associative activities in line with strategic objectives.
- Ensure adequate resources, capacity building, and development for the Association team.
- Ensure the Association meets all legal and regulatory obligations (e.g., article of association, internal regulations and other legal formalities) in coordination with the board affairs executive.
- Liaise with the board affair executive, company Secretary and Legal Advisor to regularly update governing documents and manage legal risks.
The Ideal Candidate
- Master’s Degree or relevant experience
- At least 10 years of professional experience in strategic, coordination and leadership roles within a humanitarian, civil society, or membership-based organization. Additionally, minimum of 2 years in a leadership role in association governance, civil society, or MSF structures.
- Proven track record in strategic leadership, governance support, and institutional collaboration.
- Demonstrated experience in association or membership development, organizational governance, or board support and engagement.
- Deep understanding of MSF’s associative and governance identity and structure, ideally with prior MSF field or HQ experience.
- Strong leadership, facilitation, and relationship-building skills across complex stakeholder groups.
- Excellent communication skills in English; additional regional languages are an asset.
